Built for T.Wingate of Glasgow. She ran aground on The Stirks in the Sound of Mull in April 1896 but was successfully refloated. Shortly after this event she was sold on to Capt James Irwin, of Combe Martin in North Devon, and registered at Barnstaple in 1897 under the new name of "Snowflake". In stark contrast to the normal cargoes of coal and sand carried by her sisters on the West Coast of Scotland, one of Snowdrop's main seasonal trades was cargoes of soft fruit, including strawberries, from Combe Martin to jam factories in South Wales. She would, though, return to Devon with a more typical cargo of coal!
After serving as a water carrier in WW2, she was sold to new owners in Bristol and then it is believed on to Greece. There is at least one report of her having been seen at Rhodes post-1990 but I have no verfication of this.
