GOVERNMENT SERVICE

Served with navy and then the admiralty at Devonport where she was converted to a water carrier in 1947.

CIVIL USE

VIC65 was the last VIC-type lighter to be in service with the UK military when she was sold for scrapping at Inverkeithing on the Forth in 1979.

She was at least temporarily reprieved from this fate by a group of steam enthusiasts who hoped to form a charitable trust to preserve her but this never happened and she eventually met her inevitable fate.
