Built for Eggar Forrester of London as the "Wis", she was one of four vessels purchased in 1988 by Glenlight Shipping Ltd., from Clyde Shipping Company of Glasgow. The others being Polarlight, Glenrosa, and Glenetive. After having been abandoned following an engine failure in 1991 she was laid up at Troon before being sold to an unknown buyer and renamed Merkela. In 1993 she was bought by Gardscreen Shipping of Honduras and again renamed, this time as Kali. In December 1995 she arrived at Rochester, Kent for scrapping under the name Cleo.
When acquired these vessels had no cargo handling gear installed and so were fitted with travelling gantry cranes.
