Reportedly built for Hendry, McCallum & Co., operating as Glasgow Steam Coasters but by the following year recorded as being owned by a J M Paton of Glasgow..

On 28th August 1893  "Seal" sank in the Sound of Mull some 2 miles W of Lochaline, after being in collision with the steamship "Mount Park" of Greenock .
