Built for J Hay & Sons , for their own use. Soon afrerwards, with 4 scows in tow, she left Kirkintilloch with 300 standing on her deck, and another 700 spread across the scows. Unballasted, she rapidly heeled over and passengers had to jump for their lives. The out-of-control Moor then hit aother scow loaded with picnickers from Glasgow. Not an auspicious start to her career and in fact not much more about her is on record, except her end.

On 23rd December 1915 while on war service with the Admiralty she foundered in heavy seas while crossing the bar at the mouth of the RiverTay. Despite two other vessels being near at had and launching an immediate search, nothing was ever found of her crew.
