I have very little information on this lighter other than that she was owned by the Melfort Gunpowder Works on Loch Melfort. Her wreck report records that on December 2nd 1869 she was seen to founder between Dunoon and Innellan, and that some wreckage has been picked up..

The only  "Lyle" on record which could fit is O/No 44784, which in 1870 was registered in Glasgow to a W.Harrison of Lund Hall, Ulverstone, Lancs. A little bit of archive research reveals that the Melfort Gunowder Works was founded in 1838 by messrs Harrison Ainslie & Co.who also operated in Lancashire and so I am fairly sure that we have a positive ID here.
