Built for the Kirkcaldy Leith & Glasgow Steam Packet Company. Initially at least employed on cargo carrying between the Forth & Clyde ports via the Forth and Clyde Canal.

In 1890 she was owned by John Saunders of Kirkcaldy who appear to have still been her owners when she was lost after stranding off Ardbeg on the Isle of Islay on 8 December 1917. She was very possibly engaged in the barley trade between the Angus ports and Islay although she was reportedly in ballast at the time of her loss. Nothing further is recorded. Her wreck lies at 55 38 15N, 006 05 13W
