Hay's last new build and the last to bear one of their traditional "tribal" names. She was unique for the "puffers" in havng a twin derrick.  Her sea-keeping abilities were questionable and comments made by former crew members reportedly include such compliments as "she would roll on wet grass", and "if I was on her in a gale I'd have been sleeping in the liferaft".

In 1961 she siffered hull damage after colliding with David MacBrayne's 1955-built Claynmore in Tobermory Bay.

On 22nd August 1962, as she approached the mouth of the Ribble in a westerly force 8 and rough seas, she broached and capsized with the loss of three crew members. She was arriving in ballast from the Clyde to load a cargo of steel for Belfast. For unknown reasons her hatches were open, else this tragedy would probably have been averted.  She was refloated on the 20th September and later purchased by Preston Corporation for use as a "communication centre" . 

In 1985 she became a floating workshop, having been renamed "BRIDGET C", before moving to Penrhyn nr Bangor in Wales in 1986 for use as a houseboat.  The photograph on the right shows her there in 1998 in a rather dilapidated condition. I believe that she was broken up shortly afterwards.
