Built by Hay for their own use and she
remained in their ownership all of her working days.
Sank on the 18th of February 1931 some 6 miles NE of Sanda
in the outer Firth of Clyde while carrying a cargo of
limestone after having been involved in a collision with
another, unnamed, ship.
The photograph below shows a "Briton" at Oban but it is
undated and does not confirm which of the four puffers to
carry the name "Briton" she is. I'm going by
process of elimination and coming up with this one, the fourth
but I could well be wrong. If you know better,
please say so !
